Canada reports first case of BSE in 2007

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) said on Feb. 7 that it found BSE in a mature bull from western Alberta province. The animal did not get in the human food or animal feed chain. The United States and Japan lifted their embargoes on Canadian beef in 2005. In 2006, five cases of mad cow disease were confirmed in Canada.
